When we first decided to move to Mexico in January of 2010, I expected an adventure. I had lived in other countries, other states, cities..but this was where my husband had once called home. I expected more. I had always read that Mexico was affordable, rent, groceries, bills were cheaper. Don't kid yourself, rent may be cheaper but little else is. I read that you need to live like a native in order for it to be cheap. Let me explain exactly how a native here lives: small house, scratching from day to day to figure out what they're going to eat, sometimes days without water or electricity, no medical insurance...get the picture?
It has been an interesting 3 years here, keep checking back and I will keep you up to date on an American in Mexico. It isn't always bad, but it isn't always good either.
